Jokosher Summer Of Code

Based upon Uraeus' suggestion, we should submit Jokosher as a possible Summer Of Code project. For more information on Summer Of Code, see http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html

So, we need a bunch of ideas, and we need people who are interested in being students and mentors. Obviously only core developers will be considered for mentors. Note down any ideas that you think could be completed in three months this summer:

• MIDI support (Mentor by JonoBacon) - Implement MIDI support so that MIDI instruments can be used in Jokosher.
• Effects support (Mentor by JonoBacon) - Implement support for LADSPA effects. This would also require making the GStreamer LADSPA bridge work. There exists a bridge for 0.8, but it has not been ported.
• Improving Latency - Improve GStreamer's ability to handle low-latency audio streams.
• VST Gstreamer Bridge - Write a bridge to allow the use of VST plug-ins as nodes in a GStreamer graph.
• Plugin manager (Mentor by StuartLangridge) - Allow plugins to Jokosher that do things, and make them really easy to install and discover. See PluginSystem for more.
• i18n (Mentor by ???) - Reorganisation of locales to export text data in external files, using gettext for example, in order to ease the translation of Jokosher into different languages.
